My name is Janneke, on my travels in India I learned Jahnika in Sanskrit means magic carpet. I do love working with text and with textile. I love making tents, dressing up and storytelling. As a textile wizard I’m into sourcing materials, dressing the spirit of the play and weaving horizons. In a world that is growing together and falling apart at the same time I am looking for peace within, something I learn from Indian mythology and spirituality. I do get sad when I see the state the planet is in. But I keep trust that a world will transform into another. I celebrate the patina of the world, that is the glory of decay. Patina, like the cracks in the varnish of an oilpainting, increases the appreciation of something falling apart. I strip off leather couches at the garbage to make backpacks, I collect feathers of unwanted wild ducks to make ceremonial collars, I melt T-shirts into plastic bags that rip open into unique patterns and I make bathrobes from forgotten towels at a sweatlodge. Come along on adventure in the world of textile, if you need to dress yourself or your performers for the stage or if you want to do a craft workshop. For an adventure with text follow a guided journey or let's make a new performance. To explore your own mythology, I can take you into the story of your self by reading and washing your hands.
